In just a few decades, Vietnam has experienced rapid infrastructure development, largely due to its tourism boom. Many independent travelers from all over the world seek the traditional Vietnamese home atmosphere in Bed and Breakfast places. One such place in high demand is Huong Viet Hostel in Ho Chi Minh.
What makes any B&B welcoming and memorable is a hospitable host and excellent service. The Huong Viet Hostel excels in both. Xavier Phuong, the manager with a big heart, is not only a polyglot - fluent in most languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Vietnamese) - but also knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to his guests. Born in Switzerland, Xavier Phuong has settled in Vietnam, and together with his Vietnamese wife started the B&B in 2004. Xavier Phuong provided absolutely everything promised and more! He took perfect care of me, telling me about the country. The peace and quiet of this hostel in the middle of a busy area is quite unbelievable. I appreciated the small groups tour to Mekong Delta and Cu Chi tunnels they organized, to make it cheaper for everyone. I can't recommend it highly enough!...

This place is super close to the airport, a long distance from almost everything else. The owner makes up for any deficiencies though.

Mr Xavier was a very good host and assessed me with everything I needed. The bus to Nha Trang was very good and comfortable and fairly cheap. The tours they organise is also top class, I did the Mekong Delta tour and thought it was very interesting... the guide arranged for our small group was also special It is adifferent kind of place than the usual backpackers guest house...

Close to airport; neighborhood quite and friendly not commercial like the backpacker area downtown. Still remodeling. Good food in nearby restaurants. Staff helpful and direct when explaining costs.
